There is nothing like a homemade gift from the kitchen. A banana bread loaf is a great offering as it can be served for breakfast during a busy season of entertaining. It can easily be frozen by the recipient to be enjoyed long after the holiday season, if preferred. Adding your favoirte candy bar chopped up into the batter of your go-to recipe is an indulgent addition befitting the holidays. In this recipe I added chopped Snickers bars as they have peanuts, caramel and chocolate, perfect partners for banana bread! Decadent? You bet! At the end of the post I will share several wrapping ideas for the gifting of banana bread loaves.
SNICKERS BANANA BREAD
Ingredients:
3 ripe bananas, peeled
2 large eggs
1/4 c safflower oil
1/2 c sugar
1 3/4 c flour
3/4 t baking soda
1 1/4 t cream of tartar
1/2 t salt
3/4 c coarsely chopped Snickers chocolate bars
Method:
Preheat oven to 350 F
In a medium bowl, with an electric mixer, mix the bananas, sugar, eggs and oil until smooth. Combine the flour, baking soda, salt and cream of tartar together and gradually incorporate into the banana mixture. Using a wooden spatula, fold in the chopped candy. Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake on the middle rack of the oven for 50-60 minutes. Cool on a rack.
IT’S A WRAP!
1- Use a pretty tea towel to wrap around your loaf and it can becomes a gift within the gift! I used a liner of parchment paper underneath so the towel would not get greasy.

Tea towel folded in thirds; loaf wrapped in parchement secured with twine. Sit your loaf on top of the towel top side down. Fold the towel over, tucking the ends in back.

A pretty ribbon with red berries and evergreens completes the offering and secures the ends of the tea towel.
2- Present the loaf in a nice container. Three versions.

Birch bark container filled with shredded paper nestles the parchment wrapped loaf. Greenery and a mini ornament complete the look.
3- KISS ~wrap the loaf in parchment with a festive ribbon and present it simply like this or on a pretty platter.
Of course the secret ingredient in all these gifts is love and nothing could be sweeter than that. Happy gifting from your kitchen!
Beautiful, I agree home-made gifts are the best around the holidays. You’ve done an amazing job adding a festive touch to it. Gorgeous!
Thank you Loretta! Do you give home made gifts too? Happy holidays!

I like to give homemade gifts too, especially from the kitchen. Or rather I prefer too. I have been happy with all of my banana bread recipes but I have to try your version with snickers in it. I have a cookie I make using the mini snickers but bread – yum 🙂
Love homemade gifts too Judi. I can only imagine how special your gifts are! Merry Christmas!

We give loaves of my mother-in-laws special nut bread for holiday gifts. I’m going to use you idea of wrapping in a pretty towel. That’s genius! Everyone can use one and it is really pretty. We usually wrap them in foil and stick a bow on top–not really cool enough for a special family tradition. Thanks!!! (Too bad I didn’t see this BEFORE Christmas…)
Just think how excited your recipients will be next year Robbin!!! Go pick up some Christmas towels now at steep discounts!
